Self Improvement by Self Understanding
From Daniel Crabtree
It seems to me that a very effective way of improving yourself and your brains capacity and ability to function is to try to understand how it is currently operating. The idea sprung from the second talk David MacKay gave at Victoria University in late August 2005, where the idea was that the recurrent neural networks were supposed to be trying to predict their own behaviour. This seems like a very interesting idea to me and I have applied it in reasoning about myself and I think that I now understand my own brain processes much better and my logical reasoning, this has allowed me to refine my thinking strategies further and has allowed me to increase my processing capacity. Now if only I could get back to improving my efficiency, rather than thinking and reasoning about these grand ideas, then maybe I could put my increased brain power to good use. I really need to get stuck in with my Goals.
